Janmashtami , Krishna Janmashtami , is also known as “Krishnashtami“ is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of god Vishnu. Janmashtami is also called by these names ,”Gokulashtami“, “Ashtami Rohini”, “Srikrishna Jayanti“, “Sree Jayanthi” or simply as “Janmashtami“.
Janmashtami is on August 14th.
Janmashtami celebrates
the birth of one of the most famous Gods of Hindu religion, Bhagwan
Krishna, on the eighth day (Ashtami) in the month of Sravana or Savana. Lord Sri
Krishna was born on the ‘Rohini’ nakshatram (star).
